Faiths for our City

The Birmingham Council of Faiths presents another of their "Faith, Health and Wellbeing Seminars". This event - free to attend - will take place on Friday 28th November 2014, running from 10am - 4:30pm (registration at 9:30). The venue is the Orchard Learning and Resource Centre, University of Birmingham, Weoley Park Road, Selly Oak, B29 6QW.

The programme includes:

‘Spirituality & Disability’ Christopher Barber, Full-time care giver, RCN West Midlands Board member, Lay Cistercian.

Advocacy & Dignity Champions’ Margaret Harries, Lead Nurse-Older Adults

Researching the Sandwell “Chaplains for Wellbeing” service’ Dr Peter Kevern, Associate Professor in Values in Care, Staffordshire University

‘The role of Faith in Mental Health’ Daniel Singleton, Director, Faith Action

‘Palliative & End of Life Care’ Gabrria-Nivas Ravy, Senior Operations Officer Birmingham CrossCity CCG

‘Religion & the NHS Equality Delivery System’ Michelle Dunne, Interim Manager for Equality and Diversity, Birmingham CrossCity CCG

Tea and coffee can be purchased at the refreshment bar, but please bring your own packed lunch.

The Orchard Learning and Resource Centre is accessible by the 61, 63 and 98 buses from the City Centre and approximately 15 minutes’ walk from Selly Oak Station. Free parking is available around the site.

- Denton coffee morning: First Thursday each month (10.00-11.30)

 - Women of Faith: First Wednesday each month – Cafe Zen (5.00-6.00)

Special events to bring women of faith together for friendship, mutual understanding  and fun and to give them a voice in the community.

Ongoing: Language, Faith and Culture Programme

This programme will draw together people from the local community, representing a diverse range of ethnicities and religions, who are interested in developing their English skills in order to express their faith and culture and to articulate their concerns. Take home activities will be provided in order to involve children and other family members.

Its taking place at the The Nishkam Centre, 6 Soho Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, B21 9BH

Women’s group meets on Fridays from 9.30 to 11.30: Starting on Friday 6th November

Men's group meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm: Starting on Wednesday 27th January 2010
