The articles on this page seek to give an overview of twelve of the faiths (and one 'life stance') practised in the region, their festivals, places of worship and those who attend them. One of the difficulties in describing them is that expectations of what makes a religion and what worshippers do as a result are based on false cultural assumptions. This is one of the main hindrances to religious literacy.
